What do adults in guiding do?

Girlguiding Inspire (18-30)

Be part of a community of young women having adventures, gaining skills and making memories to last a lifetime.

Whether you want to travel the world, build your CV, support girls or simply have fun with new friends, you can do it with Girlguiding.

There are loads of ways to get involved. Some of our opportunities are through volunteering with local Girlguiding units, others you can do on your own.

Choose your pathway

All our opportunities fit into one of seven pathways or two themes. You can follow one particular pathway. Or, because we’re all different, mix and match to create a new path just for you. You can apply directly for national opportunities or contact our local country or region to find out more about Girlguiding Inspire in our area.

Whatever you decide to do, you’ll be joining a community of women choosing their own path and shaping the future for us all.

Volunteering

Girlguiding isn’t just for girls. In total, Girlguiding in the UK have around 100,000 adult volunteers and supporters.

Help girls to build confidence, have adventures, learn new skills and have fun – no matter your experience, background or how much time you have spare.

We offer everyone support, specialised training and the opportunity to develop new skills, meet new people and have fun.

There are many volunteer roles in guiding. Many volunteers give their time as Leaders, Assistant Leaders or Unit Helpers. Other volunteers take on administrative responsibilities, or even maintenance on an occasional basis.

Our County welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, and abilities. We are flexible and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle.

Trefoil Guild

Aside from volunteering opportunities, adults can join a local Trefoil Guild – Guiding for adults – fun, friendship and making a difference!

Their mission is to offer members personal and social opportunities whilst supporting Guiding and Scouting.

The aims and objectives of the Trefoil Guild are:-

  • To keep alive among members the spirit of the Guide and Scout Promises and Laws
  • To carry that spirit into the communities in which members live and work
  • To give practical, financial and moral support to Guiding and Scouting

There are a number of Trefoil Guilds that meet throughout our County.

Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. ’
